This is an unpopular business strategy in today’s world of runaway valuations and vaporware products. This isn’t because it’s dumb, it’s because it’s harder than the alternative. Seeking revenue forces you to focus on your customer and their needs - this is the best way to validate your assumptions and accelerate learning - which is at the core of rapid innovation. Revenue-generating businesses are more durable investments during economic uncertainty. Best of all, a model built on self-sustaining momentum can persist regardless of investment, improving your negotiating position with investors.
